[Women's Cross Country] Bachel, Charley honored by NAIAPublished by
Two Jamestown College women's cross country student-athletes were recently announced as 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Award winners. The award winners for Jamestown College women's cross country are listed here: Fall 2012: Bernie Bachel (Sr. Annandale, MN) Fall 2012: Miranda Charley (Jr. North Branch, MN) This was the second NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award for Bernie as she won it in 2011. She also won it in the spring for track & field. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that 317 women's cross country student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Spring Arbor (Mich.) leads all institutions with 12 individuals on the list. In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. ******* ******* The Jamestown College women's cross country program, started in 1979 by coach Jim Clark has a strong tradition of academic excellence.
